Kingsbridge & Sparksy……..
…….were really rather good. The band played for an hour at the Kingsbridge Fest to a warm but football weary crowd. Maybe I was a little off with my score prediction (see below) but at least we don’t have to worry about it any more! A big thank you to Rob Wheeler at the festival for organising an excellent event.
Andy H and Derek appeared on Sparksy’s Radio Devon show today (Monday) performed an acoustic version of What’s Wrong and were promptly invited back to do it all again in a few months time. Thank you Sir Gordon for being a great bloke and looking after us so well.
Kingsbridge Festival and the World Cup……..
…….our starting time has been put back until 4.15 -4.30 to accomodate the big match. The sun will shine, England will win 5-0 and all will be well with the world!
Sparksy on the BBC………
………following the release of In The Land Of Giants, the band has been invited to appear on Gordon Sparks’ BBC Radio Devon programme next Monday 28th June at 8.30 am. There could well be a live performance of some kind and a chance to talk about the band and the new album with Sir Gordon. Set your alarm!
Kingsbridge Festival………..
…………is happening this coming weekend. This is an excellent event in a great location. Rob Wheeler, veteran of local radio is the man who organises the festival and is beautifully run. 80 Degrees appear at 3 pm on Sunday and following last weekend’s Polperro Festival should be a continuation of music in the sun. You can see full details at www.kingsbridgemusicfest.org
Polperro Festival………
……was last Sunday. The band played at 2 pm followed by Mad Dog Macrea. The venue was top class in a most georgeous Cornish village and the sun shone!! Really looking forward to this excellent event again next year.
Festivals are next…
…..Polperro with Kingsbridge the following week makes June an exciting month. The sun will shine and with the band supporting Mad Dog Macrea at Polperro it should be a big occasion. Try this link http://www.polperrofestivalsandlights.co.uk/localmusic.htm
The new album has been well received and there are murmurings within the band of starting the next one now as we have so much material available.
emails….
……have been a problem in that in the last two weeks they have not been received due to a technical glitch. Many apologies if you have sent one and we haven’t replied. Feel free to send them again and we promise we will reply.
In The Land Of Giants……….
…………….is now launched. Thank you to the many who came along yesterday (Friday) for what was one of the best gigs ever. It was great to see so many friends who have supported the band over the years all come together for a hot night at the Union. Thanks too to Brian who runs one of the best and probably most underrated pubs/venues around. Next are the festivals in June and we look forward to seeing you all there.
This Friday, the Union Inn, Saltash……..
…..is the album launch. We are really looking forward to a full Union and playing a 24 song set for an audience who have been remarkably patient waiting for the release of ‘In The Land Of Giants’.
Claire returns for this one and some of her songs will of course be a feature of the set. You will be able to pick up a copy of the new 12 track album on the night which features 2 new songs yet to be heard live.
We welcome………
……..James Field to the 80 Degrees family. James is a qualified Sound technician and, assisted by road crew team – Jane and Nigel, will be taking on responsibility for all things ‘audio’ at our live performances. So, welcome young Field, your help is long overdue, express yourself!!!
