Recording……….
……..for the band’s third album is underway with Chris Wood providing 5 drum tracks over Christmas.
The songs include Rob’s ‘Windy Edge Blues’ which will feature a guest singer. This time the recording time won’t take the 2 1/2 years ‘In The Land Of Giants’ took to make.
Claire should also feature and both she and Derek intend to put together recordings of songs that perhaps won’t fit into the band’s repertoire.

Hungry Bears!…….
……..Rob and Derek’s accidental coming together as the ‘Bears’ seems to have taken on a life of its’ own as they continue to gig in some rather nice venues in front of rather nice people. HB is a covers duo with some original songs thrown in.
What’s next………
…………………..Hugh popped in last week and recorded the bass tracks for ‘So Here We Are’ and ‘Screen’. Chris awaits them in London and will add a drum track as soon as possible. Funny how it goes, when we recorded the last album our then new drummer wasn’t ready to record and now he’s gone it’s back to Chris to do the job.
Cancelled gigs……..
………have resulted following the sudden resignation of
the band’s drummer. Many apologies to all those who attended the Union gig recently

only to find that we were a man short. This was unavoidable as no notice
was given of the sudden departure. The band was however well received with one
lovely lady remarking that she hadn’t noticed the difference!!
We have decided to cancel all forthcoming gigs until a

The tenth anniversary of the band happens to be this week
and changes of personnel is not uncommon as in all bands but, importantly, the
quality of material is unaffected by the departure and as in the past 80
Degrees continues to make progress.

LYDSTOCK Music Festival Approaches!
On Saturday 25th June, 80 Degrees will be performing at Lydford’s annual outdoor Music Festival. Aptly named “LYDSTOCK’, there are no less than 5 bands on the bill, plus special guests. This wealth of musical talent will be performing throughout the late afternoon right through to 11:30pm. As numbers are limited we would advise obtaining tickets in advance. (See ‘Upcoming Gigs’ page for gig details) Hope to see you there!

..Rob’s ‘Pigeons On The Roof’ is now ready and the band’s ‘Wise Words From A Wise Man’ will follow shortly. Rumour has it the VOT has returned to the fold!

…..at the Kings Arms, Lostwithiel has been cancelled due to Andy Hedges being unwell. Derek and Rob will step in with their duo ‘ Hungry Bears!’

….married Christian at a ceremony at Langdon Court, Wembury on 18th April and her Dad was hugely proud. Photos can be found on Claire’s Facebook apparently and she is now Mrs Mayne.
This year………
…………is the 10th anniversary of the origins of 80 Degrees. The band started rather humbly as a duo before becoming a five piece as Lang & Wood. The ‘Lang’ side of the band departed and rather forced a change of name. Promise I will try to find the actual date which I think was around July 2001 and was a Sunday lunchtime gig at the much lamented venue the Victualling Office, Plymouth.
Jolly Farmer at Newton Abbot……….
…….is back in the fold having stopped all live music for most of last year, the band returns to play there on Thursday 9th June.
